Project Spotlight

Blackhawk conducted a non-destructive geophysical investigation on sound wall pillar structures. The purpose of the geophysical investigation was to assess the interior conditions of these structures so that appropriate remediation and maintenance can be applied.

The presence of swelling clay beneath roadways poses a significant problem to road rehabilitation design and construction. Blackhawk, in coordination with the FHWA-CFLHD, conducted multi-phase surface geophysical investigations using various EMI instruments to rapidly and accurately locate clay-rich zones beneath long stretches of roadways.

"Through Zapata Engineering’s long-term involvement with the Camp Croft project, project management and integration is seamless. Technical and professional staff are responsive to all Corps requests and require minimal Corps oversight or intervention."
